Allerton Park and Retreat Center - Voted one of the Seven Wonders of Illinois
Located 3.5 miles west of Monticello.
Allerton Park, owned by the University of Illinois, is a former estate built by Robert Allerton in the early 1900's. The park features 1500 woodland acres with lovely grounds for strolling, hiking, formal gardens and museum quality sculptures collected from all over the world. The estate is truly an oasis in the prairie. The mansion is now used as a Retreat Center.

Valentine Park
Located on northeast Cemetary Road (County Forest Preserve Park) This quiet park features a 1/2 mile nature trail and is a relaxing spot to picnic and birdwatch.

Lodge Park
Located 1 1/2 miles north of Exit 166 I-72. County Forest Preserve Park. 500 acres along the Sangamon River offers primitive camping, picnic tables, playground equipment. It is the site of the annual fireworks celebrations on July 3.

Parks and Recreation Department which organizes sports programs throughout the year.
